Faculty June Activities

Dr. Marianne Kunkel offered a poetry reading, a guest lecture and manuscript consultations at the annual Prairie Lands Writing Project Writers’ Retreat in Conception, MO.




Dr. Gaywyn Moore delivered the paper "'I shall do thee mischief in the wood': Athens Gets Wild in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the 22st Annual Mediterranean Studies Association Congress in Rethymnon, Greece.




Dr. Mike Cadden delivered the paper “When Comic Realism is Neither: Representationalism and Exaggeration in Illustrated Novels for Children" at the Children’s Literature Association Conference in Indianapolis.

EML Faculty Receive Promotions

Congratulations to EML faculty who have been promoted for their quality teaching, service, and
 professional development.

Dr. Elizabeth Canon has received tenure and has been promoted to Associate Professor of English

Dr. Michael Charlton has been promoted to Professor of English


Ms. Brooksie Kluge has been promoted to Advanced Instructor of English

Dr. Susan Martens has received tenure and has been promoted to Associate Professor of English

Dr. Miguel Rivera-Taupier has received tenure and has been promoted to Associate Professor of Spanish

Dr. Martens Publishes and Presents her Work

 
Susan Martens' nonfiction piece "Three Balconies" was published in the May issue of the literary journal Louisiana Literature. 
 
In April Dr. Martens presented a paper titled "Renaissance Faire Playtrons as Pop Culture Flaneurs" at the National Conference of the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association in Washington, D.C. 
 
In July she will serve as a retreat leader for the New Orleans Writing Marathon Retreat hosted by the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project.
