Faculty Go A-Presentin'

Caroline Whiteman organized a seminar (a group of three panels under a common theme) and gave a paper, "Otakus à la française: Le nouveau japonisme in Contemporary France," at the American Comparative Literature Conference (ACLA) in Washington DC the week before spring break. Juliette Papadopoulos, our French Fulbright from last year, attended as well and presented her paper "Connected Amazonia: The Emergence of Digital Patrimonial Spaces in French Guyana."

The following week, Whiteman gave the paper "Critical Disasters: Xabi Molia's Literary Catastrophes as Social Commentary and Cultural Reflection" at the 20th and 21st Century French and Francophone Studies Colloquium in Oklahoma City.

Marianne Kunkel and Mike Cadden presented at the Association of Writing Professionals (AWP) in late March. Kunkel’s session was “The PushMePullMe of Advising Lit Journals: Publishing While Getting Published.” Cadden’s session was “A Tribute to Ursula K. Le Guin.”

Kaye Adkins, Brooksie Kluge, and soon-to-be colleague Jennifer Jackson attended College English Association (CEA) meeting in New Orleans. Adkins’ presentation was “Envisioning Online Classes: What Instructional Design Professionals Can Teach Us.” Ms. Jackson’s presentation was “Individual: FYW DIY: Multimodal Zines for a New Perspective.”
