Dr. Melody Smith (BSE, English 1987) will retire from her position as Superintendent of the St. Joseph School District on June 30, 2013. As reported by the St. Joseph News-Press, "Dr. Smith started with the school district in 1988. She first served as a
language arts teacher and coordinator before becoming an assistant
principal at Benton High School." Melody began her work as Superintendent in March of 2006, and helped the district earn Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education “Distinction in Performance” award six of the last seven years.
We wish Melody a wonderful last spring in her position, and a well-earned, stress-free summer for the first time in years!
