Graduate students in the Integrated
Media program--Heather Heater, Jeremy Lyons, Brad Beckwith, Anita Ford, and
Kris Miller--have had their joint paper been accepted to the 14th International
Symposium on Online Journalism that will be held in Austin, Texas at the
University of Texas at Austin on April 19-20.
In addition to the presentation, the
paper has also been accepted for publication in the next Volume and Issue of
The Official Research Journal of the International Symposium on Online
Journalism.
The research project was conducted
in Dr. Bergland's graduate convergent media theory and practice course.
Using a 35-item matrix, the students analyzed the websites of the top 100
circulation U.S. newspapers, looking for features of Multimedia (video, audio,
etc), Interactivity (comments, polls, Flash graphics, etc.) and distribution
(PDF, RSS feeds, FB and Twitter, etc).
The International Symposium on
Online Journalism, the most prestigious conference in this field, has an
acceptance rate of 25-30%.
Congratulations to them for this impressive accomplishment!
