While she was on
sabbatical last fall, Dr. Stacia Bensyl was invited by Brian Niiya, Content
Director for DENSHO (the Japanese American legacy project) and former Curator of
the Japanese American National Museum and Resource Director for the Japanese
Cultural Center of Hawai`i, to appear as a guest on “Thinking Out Loud” on
station KZOO AM 1210 in Honolulu, a weekly radio program sponsored by several
nonprofit entities, including the Hawai`i Council for the Humanities and the
Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai`i.
Doctor Bensyl discussed her research on literary magazines published in
the War Relocation Authority administered internment camps for Japanese
Americans during World War II. The link
to her November 5 interview follows: http://www.kzoohawaii.com/jp/programs/tol.html Because of her
work with Japanese American literature, she has been invited to edit the
Japanese American literature section of the Densho Encyclopedia.
