Bergland, Professor of Journalism, delivered the presentation “Content
Management Systems, Distribution Features and Social Media on College Newspaper
Websites” with journalism students David
Hon and Heather Heater at the Association of Educators of Mass Communication
and Journalism in Washington, D.C.
Jeanie
Crain, Professor of English, completed a Systems Portfolio review for AQIP,
serving as editor for the team. Dr. Crain has
been invited to complete a Quality Checkup Visit and to serve as peer
reviewer for Action Projects.
Prairie
Lands Writing Project formally launched the i3:
College Ready Writers Program with a pair of pre-school year institutes in
August. Nineteen teachers and administrators from Braymer C-4 and Breckenridge
R-1 School Districts met at Braymer High School, August 5 and 6, for a series
of cross-curricular literacy workshops. Dr. Jane Frick, i3 project manager,
Kathy Miller and Tom Pankiewicz, lead facilitators, directed the institute with
additional workshops presented by Prairie Lands Teacher Consultants Sara Capra,
Park Hill High School; Dr. Maridella Carter, Blue Springs School District;
Janet Jelavich, retired Maryville High School; Michele Irby, Orrick High
School; and Amy Miller, Benton High School.
On
August 12-13, Prairie Lands presented a second launch institute for the
twenty-five Hamilton School District teachers and administrators at Hamilton’s
Penney High School. Jane Frick and Kathy Miller directed the institute with
presentations led by Janet Jelavich, Amy Miller, Maridella Carter, and Sara
Capra.
Prairie
Lands will provide 45 hours of professional development for each school during
the 2013-2014 school year.
